I would have walked!

I would have walked!!! …

A few days ago I listened to a friend of mine talking about an incident that he had witnessed as he commuted back to his humble aboard after a full day’s work. It all started when one of the passengers in the public service vehicle he was using rose up emphatically and on top of his voice shouted angrily…… “Whoever has taken my wallet should return it immediately before what happened in 1978 is witnessed again here and now! So stern was his warning that almost everyone got scared not really sure of how to quantify the magnitude of what had allegedly happened in the year 1978. “I will not repeat asking for my wallet and therefore as I close my eyes and count to three my wallet should be on my seat or else whatever I witnessed taking place in 1978 will happen right now!!” There was dead silence as everyone either voluntarily or involuntarily “locked” their eyes to avoid firing up the man’s wrath even more. From a considerable distance one could smell alcohol, a perfect proof that the man was no longer under his control, this was a precarious situation to the scared passengers who imagined what a nasty incident this man did years back and was still courageous to repeat the same in full public glare.

“Ooonne, twwooo,” At the count of two his wallet resurfaced, definitely having been placed there by a fear-stricken itchy fingered fellow. “You are very lucky, open your eyes!” he ordered the passengers. He counted his few notes and to his utter satisfaction, everything was intact. He then gave a wry smile and comfortably took his seat. As is the norm, the conductor of the bus collected fare from each passenger and peacefully the man paid his fare. My friend, sitted next to him also paid his fare and thought of the best way to initiate a conversation sine he was itching to get a hint of how catastrophic the 1978 incident was. “Hi, I hope you have everything intact, right? Your identity card and ATM?” “Oh, certainly. Everything is intact,” answered the man. “……mmmhhh, but sir, if I may ask what would have happened if the wallet had not been found?” The man smiled a little and took a comfortable posture, turned to his left and answered, “I would have walked home!”

How hard do you fight to reclaim that which is rightfully yours? Go for what is yours without giving up, without looking at the obstacles that lie ahead and smile all the way to success!! Keep shining, keep smiling!
